Apply - Interview – Audition or Present!
All applicants to the TYA track must visit UCF for an interview AND either an audition OR a creative presentation. *Contact the Department Chair, Chris Niess to schedule your visit. Application materials must be submitted to UCF’s Graduate Studies AND to TYA Admissions. The University of Central Florida employs an online application process which can be accessed at

Audition/Creative Presentation and other application information:
All applicants
are required to
interview on-site and must audition or present a creative presentation during their visit. Please contact Chris Niess at 407-823-2862

to schedule your visit and specify if you prefer to audition or give a creative presentation.
An audition includes
two contrasting one minute monologues, and if you are a dancer and/or a singer 16 bars of a song and a short dance number.
A creative presentation
can take on many shapes and should showcase your professional and/or academic experience, as well as your theatre aesthetic through the presentation’s form and content. Examples include creative teaching demonstrations, 3 dimensional portfolio presentations, interactive performance work, etc. (Limited to 15 minutes.)
Interviews and creative presentations should be complete prior to the regular application deadline.
The statement of purpose
(1-2 pages) should address the applicant's qualifications, artistic and/or educational philosophy, and intended area(s) of focus within the program of study, and should include how study at UCF will contribute to the applicant’s long-term goals.
Priority deadline: January 15th
Regular deadline: March 15th
*To be considered for university fellowship opportunities, you must submit all application materials by the priority deadline.
After March 15th, applicants will be considered if space is available.
Additional Application Information:
The minimum university requirements for admission into a graduate program are: a 3.0 grade point average (last 60 attempted semester hours of baccalaureate degree) on a 4.0 scale or 1000 on the combined verbal-quantitative portions of the Graduate Record Examination. GRE: Even if a student's GPA is 3.0 or above, he/she must take the GRE test; it is a state requirement.
