Imagination Playhouse
The Littlest Reindeer: a Youth Academy Musical Production

Dates: Saturdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13 • Time: 9:30 – 11:00 am • Grades: K – 2nd • Tuition: $175

It’s Christmas at the North Pole and all the citizens are getting ready for Santa’s annual ‘round the world jaunt. All of the usual characters are there - the toys, the elves, Santa, Mrs. Claus, plus a new character who becomes our hero: the littlest reindeer! Throughout the fun and drama, we are reminded of the special gift inside each and every one of us. This musical production class is led by a professional director and music director and ends with a very special performance onstage at The REP. This production class includes one ticket voucher to Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells. Additional tickets may be purchased by calling the box office at (407) 896-7365 ext. 1. NEW Drama For Homeschoolers: Two classes at the same time! Dates: Wednesdays, October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10 • Time: 9:30 am – 11:00 am (other days and times may be available by request) • Tuition: $200 (Group rates for home-schooled groups available. Through creative play with professional teaching artists, home-schooled students in these engaging classes gain experience working in an ensemble and share creative ideas while simultaneously learning acting, voice, and diction techniques and character development. This is an excellent opportunity for developing confidence, enhancing creativity, and formulating problem-solving skills. Classes end with a not-to-be-missed ‘shareformance.’
 
Exploring “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” • Ages: 6 - 10
Travel to the edge of the world with Edmund, Lucy, their cousin Eustace, Reepicheep, King Caspian, and Aslan, as they search for the seven lost Lords of Narnia. Don’t miss the wonderful opportunity to explore this classic story just prior to the big screen adaptation coming to theaters this fall!
 
Exploring “The Hobbit” • Ages 11 - 14 Join Bilbo Baggins on his momentous quest for treasure, leading to maturity and wisdom. Explore character development, themes and dramatic action using J.R.R. Tolkein’s heroic masterpiece and discover your inner strength and fortitude.
 
Myth Adventures: Five Greek Classics A Youth Academy Production Class* Dates: Saturdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13 • Time: 9:30am – 12:00pm Grades: 3 – 8 • Tuition: $200.00 • Performance: Saturday, November 13 at 1:00pm
 
In a whirlwind of thrills and comedy, journey into the ancient world of Greek mythology in this fresh look at classic legends. Adapted by Eric Coble (The Giver, Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe), many of the famous characters in Greek literature including King Midas, Orpheus, Euridice, Zeus, Hera, Icarus and King Minos spring to vivid life. If you love Percy Jackson, you’ll love this play!
 
*A Youth Academy Production Class uses minimal sets, costumes and props, but maintains a high standard of performance. An audition is required for this production; the audition date is Saturday, September 11. Please prepare a one-minute monologue. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. A Youth Academy Production* Dates: Saturdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm; Wednesdays: November 3, 10, 17 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. • Tech week: November 29 to December 2 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Grades: 3rd – 8th • Performances: December 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm and December 4 and 5 at 2:30pm. Tuition: $450.00
 
It’s a tale as old as time! The enchanting and enchanted world of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast bursts to life onstage in this now classic musical. Beautiful and intelligent Belle stumbles into a charmed castle while searching for her beloved father. After meeting a talking clock, candlestick and teapot (not to mention the dancing cutlery), Belle finds a special place in her heart for an ugly, overbearing Beast. “Be Our Guest” and join us for this magical production.
 
*An audition is required for this production; the audition date is Saturday, September 11. Please prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a musical theatre song. Training Opportunities
 
The REP Power Chords - Grades: 8th – 12th • Auditions: Saturday, January 8** • Tuition: FREE* Announcing mid-season replacement auditions for The REP’s Glee-style performance troupe. The Power Chords are seeking experienced, triple-threat performers able to sing musical theatre and pop music, as well as execute precise choreography. The Power Chords perform throughout the year in exciting venues throughout Central Florida. Details are available at the January 8 audition.
 
** Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre selection and 32 bars of a pop song from the 1960’s through 2010 that shows your vocal range. Be prepared to dance.
 
Vocal Lessons & Coaching For Adults and Children
 
The REP offers a Vocal Instructor Referral List with approved vocal instructors teaching in the Orlando area. Instructors are referred by The REP based on teaching experience and quality of work. Pricing, length of lesson and lesson locations vary and The REP is not involved in client/teacher negotiation and business transactions. Referral lists can be requested by calling (407) 896-7365 ext. 219.

The spring season at The REP features a wonderful range of classes, camps and another exciting Youth Academy production. Plan now to enroll in our Saturday classes, dynamic spring break musical theatre camps, and the finest, professionally produced youth productions in Central Florida. Classes in East Orlando at Bailes Charter School expand The REP’s award-winning programming to the UCF and Research Park area.
 
Summer 2011
 
Next summer promises to be a summer to remember. Lots of exciting theatre camps take place all summer long – sign up for one or all! The REP ’s annual summer stock production anchors the 5th annual Target Family Theatre Festival in July. Students interested in backstage opportunities can join our Design and Tech Academy. Summer camps run in one-week sessions and begin Monday, June 13, 2011 and end Friday, August 19, 2011. The REP @ UCF The REP @ University of Central Florida offers professional, college-level theatre instruction for students looking to enhance and increase their performance skills. Taught by UCF and working professionals, various one-week courses in acting, dance and other areas offer challenging and motivating material to rising 9th through graduating 12th grade students. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to study with the best!

Youth Academy Scholarship Fund
 
Orlando Repertory Theatre strives to be a creative haven for all young people. Full or partial scholarships are available for students demonstrating a need for financial assistance. Contributions to this fund are appreciated and necessary.
