The Childlike Empress sends the unlikely hero Atreyu (a boy of Bastian’s age) on a quest to find the one who can save them all. Atreyu’s adventure takes him to the far corners of Fantastica, through the Swamp of Sadness, the cave of a giant spider, and the maze of the Southern Oracle. Atreyu receives the help of the happy Luck Dragon, Falkor, on his journey. Atreyu has another source of help, Bastian himself, to ensure that imagination lives on.

The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood
By Mary Lynn Dobson

October 9- November 9, 2008

It sure is hard to be humble when you're a swashbuckling, egocentric super-hero. But our gallant guy-in-green tries his best as he swaggers through The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, a frantically funny, Monty Python-esque retelling of the classic. This time around, the legendary legend, in his never-ending quest to aid the needy, encounters a lovely damsel-in-distress (oddly obsessed with skin conditions); an ever-scheming sheriff who would rather bowl a strike than hit a bulls eye; a gold-hoarding, bad-guy monarch wannabe; and a good-natured "Town's Guy" who manages to make his way into every scene, whether he belongs there or not. Combine them with an expandable band of spoon-wielding Merry Men whose collective IQs equal six, and you've got an irreverent jaunt through Sherwood Forest you won't soon forget!

Show times: Fridays – 7 p.m., Saturdays – 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sundays – 2 p.m.

A Christmas Story
By Philip Grecian
Based on the Works of Jean Shepherd

November 20- December 21, 2008

Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out." All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. A perennial Christmas classic.

Show times: Fridays – 7 p.m., Saturdays – 2 p.m. and 7p.m., Sundays – 2 p.m.

If you give a pig a party, she’s going to want some balloons … and ice cream … and a pillow fight … and then she’ll want to clean up … and what better setting for another party than a nice, clean room? You get the picture. In Numeroff’s delightful circular stories, one thing leads to another until somehow you wind up back at the beginning. But what this little piggy learns amidst all the flurry and excitement of putting together a party is this: you can’t have a party without friends … and having friends is the perfect reason to have a party!

The Hundred Dresses   A Sideways Series Production
Based on the Book by Eleanor Estes
Adapted by William Kent Williams

March 19- April 5, 2009

Wanda Petronski, the new girl in room 13, wears the same faded blue dress to school every day, but insists that she has a hundred bright, shiny new ones at home. As Wanda's story unfolds, her classmates learn the secret of the hundred dresses and with it, a lesson in tolerance, in taking responsibility and in living with the consequences of our actions. An endearing tale based on the Newbery Honor Book by Eleanor Estes, The Hundred Dresses focuses on the difficult issue of bullying and how mistreating someone because he or she is different from oneself brings as much harm to the bully as to the victim.
