MFA IN YOUTH THEATRE
The University of Central Florida Conservatory Theatre offers
one of the nation's most distinctive graduate training programs
in Youth Theatre. With courses such as Circus Arts, Storytelling,
and Methods of Teaching Drama, the MFA in Youth Theatre is
housed at the Orlando Repertory Theatre, a professional theatre
for young audiences in vibrant downtown Orlando.
Located in one of the nation's top markets for the entertainment
industry, the University of Central Florida and the Orlando
Repertory Theatre recognize that classroom study and practical
experience are of equal and complimentary value. Students
will be integrated into The Rep's season in all possible ways,
affording students the opportunity to work with professional
artists and teach in The Rep's award-winning Youth Academy,
while studying with the University's esteemed Theatre Faculty.
Accepting only six to eight students per year, the MFA in
Youth Theatre is a highly selective, rigorous professional
training program emphasizing both theoretical and practical
training in theatre for young audiences. Graduates of this
program will possess the skills needed to become professional
artists and teaching artists in the field. The MFA in Youth
Theatre is a three-year, seventy credit program. Students
spend their first two years in residence at the Orlando Repertory
Theatre, and their third year as professional interns with
a variety of theatres for young audiences throughout the United
States.
