Straight from the headlines of local news onto the stage. Young performers explore a topic inspired by the issues facing our Central Florida community and devise a theatrical response! Students examine the topic through stories, articles, discussion, and guest speakers and then work with improvisation, storytelling, and movement to bring the common themes, questions, and possible solutions to life on stage!
Collaborative devising is not only a more common play development method used in theatre companies world wide, it also requires students to actively examine the process of collaboration while they create. The skills this class teaches prepare students for careers that require the ability to work together to achieve innovation.
Teen Perspectives Lab provides teens, ages 13 to 18, opportunities to work on theatre that reflects and challenges their unique perspective on the world. Students are asked to find purpose through performance by telling stories that resonate with their own lives or by creating theatre with empathy and attention to other types of audiences.
